Naming of Place #Locii21 Day 1

1 min

Is it any wonder the early Irish believed sleeping beneath these hallowed trees would whisk you away to the land of the fae where time is warped?

Welcome to Mercury's Day, the chthonic psychopomp trickster.

#Locii21 Day 1, August 18 2021

I live in a place called Cnoc Na Si, which means Hill of the Faeries in Irish Gaelic (different than Scott's Gaelic!).

While my neighborhood is very suburban and residential, we are surrounded on all sides by pasture land, meadows, bogs, patches of forest, and creeks.

My neighborhood is especially surrounded on all sides by hawthorn (Gaelic 'sceach gheal' or 'radiant thornbush') trees.
