Light in Art and Life

Light is a key relationship in art, as it is the revelatory factor of any image. In this way we could say the Sun is primary in our world--the revelatory being helping make known the otherwise unseen.

The acts of drawing and painting are ultimately an exercise in observing and illuminating intimate relationships. Relationships between the subjects in the picture plane, relationships between colors, between shapes; the relationship of space, light, time.

Art making is a profound exercise in quietly listening in a myriad of ways and then reverentially echoing back what was heard.
